Synopsis (EN) :
Sultana of New York is a Palestinian drag queen, performer, and artist. "Sultana’s Reign" opens with a conversation with Sultana, as she is being painted by Jordanian artist, RIDIKKULUZ. Reflecting on her journey from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, to then New York, Sultana tells of the challenges of performing drag in conservative societies, her nostalgia for the glory days and the glamour of Egyptian cinema icons, and her struggle to prove her existence and her self-expression as a performer and artist. She also shares her love of celebration and her everlasting commitment to be true to herself.

Sultana of New York est une drag queen, une artiste et une performeuse palestinienne. « Le règne de Sultana » s'ouvre sur une conversation avec Sultana, alors qu'elle est peinte par l'artiste jordanien RIDIKKULUZ. Réfléchissant à son parcours entre la Jordanie, l'Égypte, le Liban et New York, Sultana évoque les défis que pose la pratique du drag dans des sociétés conservatrices, sa nostalgie des jours de gloire et du glamour des icônes du cinéma égyptien, ainsi que sa lutte pour prouver son existence et son expression personnelle en tant qu'artiste et performeuse. Elle partage également son amour de la fête et son engagement permanent à rester fidèle à elle-même.

About

h7o7 is a duo based on the crossed visions of Hadi Moussally and Olivier Pagny. From directing to post-production through production, h7o7 is fascinated by the image, both in its aesthetic dimension and in its semantic vision. Alternative, experimental and innovative, their projects are on the frontier of experimental, documentary and fashion, seeking to extract their deep meaning while emerging from the codes of the medium. The duo multiplies artistic collaborations in a permanent quest for creative sharing and accessibility to the greatest number.
The main objective of h7o7 is to enable the making and promotion of films and photos where they privileged the mixture of genres between experimental, documentary, fashion and fiction. This is where the «hybrid» vocation starts.
Since 2014, h7o7 created 10 awarded films and photos artistic projects. And in 2024, they received more than 50 awards, 70 nominations and 390 festival selections.

h7o7 est un binôme basé sur les visions croisées de Hadi Moussally et Olivier Pagny. De la réalisation à la post-production en passant par la production, h7o7 est fasciné par l’image, tant dans sa dimension esthétique que dans sa vision sémantique. Alternatifs, expérimentaux et innovants, leurs projets se posent à la frontière de la mode, cherchant à en extraire le sens profond tout en se dégageant des codes du milieu. Le duo multiplie les collaborations artistiques dans une quête permanente de partage créatif et d’accessibilité au plus grand nombre.
L'objectif principal de h7o7 est de permettre la réalisation et la promotion de films et de photos où ils privilégient le mélange des genres entre l'expérimental, le documentaire, la mode et la fiction. C'est là que naît le terme "hybride".
Depuis 2014, h7o7 a réalisé 10 projets artistiques de films et photos primés. Et en 2024, ils ont déjà reçu plus de 50 prix, 70 nominations et 390 sélections dans des festivals internationaux.
